Lobe Piercing
The Lobe Piercing is the most popular and the most pierced piercing. Often you get your earlobe decorated with an earring at a young age. More and more popular are also several piercings on the ear. Here you will learn what is meant by a Lobe Piercing, what you should pay attention to when shooting with a gun or piercing, what jewelry you should choose and how to properly care for the ear hole.
How painful is the Piercing?
The Lobe Piercing causes the least pain of all ear piercings. Here, the cartilage tissue is not pierced, but only the fat and connective tissue, which is why it is the least painful piercing. The pain can vary depending on individual sensitivity and is approximately 2-3/10.
The right size
Each earlobe has a unique size, thickness and shape. It is important to choose the right length for you with our ear studs and the right inner diameter for the rings.
The inner diameter can be easily measured with a tape measure. With a freshly pierced lobe piercing, the earlobe is still slightly swollen. This could falsify your measured size. Therefore, wait until your piercing hole has healed completely before you buy your lobe piercing jewelry. Piercers often use piercing studs that are too large as initial jewelry, as they can expect the piercing site to swell more than twice as much.
For a healed lobe piercing, the length of the stud should be 6 to 8mm. The ring size for a completely healed lobe piercing is 6 to 8mm. There is no upper limit.
The thickness of the needle used for earlobe piercings is usually 1-1.2mm.
Materials
The material used for a freshly pierced earring must be sterile and hypoallergenic. This is the only way to ensure that no bacteria or germs are transferred and no allergies are triggered.
Earrings containing nickel or earrings made of pure silver should never be worn on the ear, as nickel triggers allergies and silver can transfer toxins to the body. In the worst case scenario, this could lead to blood poisoning or cancer.
Anti-allergenic materials include gold, titanium, white gold, platinum, rhodium and stainless steel. The highest quality and most durable piercing jewelry is made of real gold and white gold.
Our white gold is coated with platinum or rhodium to give the earring its typical white-silver shimmer. The coating is extremely hard, making the jewelry scratch-resistant.
We use 5A zirconia stones. Qualitatively, they are almost as hard as real diamonds and visually they have the same appearance. Since the zirconia stone is less expensive than the diamond, we can offer high-quality piercing jewelry at fair prices.
How long does it take for a Lobe Piercing to heal?
It can take 6-12 weeks for a lobe piercing to heal completely. Proper care is crucial for rapid healing. In our article on piercing care, you can find out everything you should pay attention to. In general, you should not get pierced in summer, as you should not sweat, bathe, go in the sun (solarium) or use a sauna for the first few weeks. All these influences can impair your healing and cause infections.
We recommend getting your Lobe piercing done with a piercing stud. Some piercers also offer to insert a ring as the initial jewelry. However, we advise against this, as healing can be greatly prolonged with a ring and the originally straight stitch channel adapts to the round shape of the ring.
