The Rook Piercing is the perfect addition to your ear party. At Lisa Eleni you will receive high-quality Piercing jewelry made of gold / white gold. You will also learn how to care for it properly and what you should pay attention to when piercing it.
How painful is the Piercing?
The Rook Piercing is a rather painful piercing. The pain is approximately 7/10, but can vary depending on individual pain sensitivity.
The right size
A larger earring diameter is usually used for piercing, as the swelling must be taken into account. After healing, the size is then reduced again. The inner diameter of rings is approximately 6mm to 8mm, depending on the thickness of the cartilage.
The earring should be 1.2mm thick for a rook piercing, as cartilage piercings are always pierced with a 1.2mm thick piercing needle. If the thickness of the earring is less than 1.2mm, there is a risk that the hole will grow over after a while.
Materials
Only hypoallergenic and sterile materials may be used as initial jewelry for freshly pierced piercings.
Stainless steel, gold, white gold or titanium are suitable materials. They are hypoallergenic and are sterilized by the piercer before piercing. If you are looking for long-lasting jewelry for your piercing, you should choose gold as the material. Gold piercings can also be worn all day long. Frequently changing piercings can be tedious, which is why our earrings have high-quality clasps that do not need to be removed at night.
Silver or gold-coated materials should never be worn on freshly pierced or inflamed piercings, as this can negatively affect healing.
How long does a Rook Piercing take to heal?
It takes about 6 to 12 months for the rook piercing to heal. Proper piercing care is important for problem-free healing. The best times of year to get a piercing are spring, fall or winter, as healing can be impaired by heat and contact with water in summer. Under no circumstances should the rook piercing be changed before it has fully healed, as otherwise germs or bacteria can get into the wound.
Unlike most cartilage piercings on the ear, such as the helix, tragus or conch, the rook piercing is pierced with a curved piercing needle. For this reason, curved jewelry is always used as the initial jewelry. Typically, a clicker segment ring, a barbell or a banana bar is used. If a straight Stud is inserted into the curved piercing channel, this can prolong healing by up to 10 times. You can only switch to a Stud after complete healing.
