Lobe Piercing
It's not without reason that the lobe piercing is the most popular and most frequently pierced piercing. Often, people get their earlobes adorned with an earring at a young age. Multiple piercings in the ear are also becoming increasingly popular. Here, you'll learn what a lobe piercing is, what to look out for when shooting a gun or getting a piercing, which jewelry to choose, and how to properly care for your earlobe.
How painful is the piercing?
The lobe piercing is the least painful of all ear piercings. It doesn't pierce the cartilage, but rather the fat and connective tissue, making it the least painful piercing. Pain can vary depending on individual sensitivity and is approximately 2-3/10.
The right size
Every earlobe has a unique size, thickness, and shape. It's important to choose the right length for your earrings and the right inner diameter for your rings.
The inner diameter can be easily measured with a tape measure. With a freshly pierced lobe piercing, the earlobe will still be slightly swollen. This could skew your measured size. Therefore, wait until your piercing hole has completely healed before purchasing your lobe piercing jewelry. Piercers often use overly large studs as initial jewelry, as they expect the piercing site to more than double its size.
For a healed lobe piercing, the stud length should be 6 to 8 mm. The ring size for a fully healed lobe piercing is 6 to 8 mm. There's no upper limit.
The thickness of the needle used for earlobe piercings is usually 1-1.2mm.
Materials
For a freshly pierced piercing, the material must be sterile and hypoallergenic. This is the only way to ensure that no bacteria or germs are transmitted and that no allergies are triggered.
Earrings containing nickel or made of pure silver should never be worn in the ear, as nickel triggers allergies and silver can transfer toxins to the body. In the worst case, this could lead to blood poisoning or cancer.
Hypoallergenic materials include gold, titanium, white gold, platinum, rhodium, and stainless steel. The highest quality and most durable piercing jewelry is made of real gold and white gold.
Our white gold is coated with platinum or rhodium to give the earring its signature white-silver shimmer. The coating is extremely hard, making the jewelry scratch-resistant.
We use 5A cubic zirconia stones . They are almost as hard as real diamonds, and they have the same visual appearance. Because cubic zirconia stones are less expensive than diamonds, we can offer high-quality piercing jewelry at fair prices.
How long does it take for a lobe piercing to heal?
It can take 6-12 weeks for a lobe piercing to fully heal. Proper care is crucial for rapid healing. In our article on piercing care, you'll learn everything you need to know. Generally, you shouldn't get pierced in the summer, as you shouldn't sweat, swim, sunbathe (use a tanning bed), or use a sauna during the first few weeks. All of these factors can impair your healing and cause infection.
We recommend getting your lobe piercing with a stud. Some piercers also offer a ring as the initial jewelry. However, we advise against this, as a ring can significantly prolong the healing process and the originally straight piercing channel will adapt to the round shape of the ring.
